This place value lesson demonstrates the ability to stay up to date on new content and approaches by modifying instruction based on student understanding. If the students are able to master base 10 counting the teacher will be able to provide opportunities to extend the lesson into place value.

This fact v. opinion lesson connects life experiences to content knowledge. The students will master the understanding of debate, fact, and opinion. The students will connect this understanding to writing and complete a "case study".
